Green Caucus 2014 Legislative Priorities

What is the Green Caucus of the WFSE / AFSCME Council 28 concerned about during the 2014 session?

1.    WA’s Toxics Account – NO on SB 5990
  • SB 5990 would undermine our toxics work by removing public participation grants and program funding
  • Let’s fund state cleanup and pollution prevention
2.    Supporting Our State Parks
  • Sustainable funding for services – Support Gov's Supplemental Budget amount of $2.9M
  • Support SB 6034 / HB 2226 State Parks Partnerships – Section 4 was negotiated with WFSE to create some safeguards when entering into agreements
  • Future of the Parks Commission
3.    Taxpayer Protection Act – YES on HB 2743
  • Public interest in environmental work is not met when you contract out green work (clean up, research, etc.) to a company trying to make a profit
  • We need value for our $
Got a question about how a bill may affect our work to help keep WA green?  Our members are here to help!  Contact WFSE/AFSCME Lobbyist Alia Griffing at 360.352.7603 or WFSE/AFSCME Green Caucus Co-Chair Kerry Graber at 360.481.3230.
