Green Caucus 2014 Legislative Priorities
What is the Green Caucus of the WFSE / AFSCME Council 28 concerned about during the 2014 session?
1. WA’s Toxics Account – NO on SB 5990- SB 5990 would undermine our toxics work by removing public participation grants and program funding
- Let’s fund state cleanup and pollution prevention
- Sustainable funding for services – Support Gov's Supplemental Budget amount of $2.9M
- Support SB 6034 / HB 2226 State Parks Partnerships – Section 4 was negotiated with WFSE to create some safeguards when entering into agreements
- Future of the Parks Commission
- Public interest in environmental work is not met when you contract out green work (clean up, research, etc.) to a company trying to make a profit
- We need value for our $
